Many sleep disorders can present as difficulty sleeping.
With insomnia you may have difficulty getting to sleep, difficulty staying asleep, or waking up early. Together with this, if you are feeling tired during the day (people with insomnia very often are unable to sleep during the day), you may have insomnia.
Insomnia is usually treated with behavioural techniques, with a very high rate of success. In some people, depending on the cause of the insomnia, medication may be required. However, we would always try to control the insomnia without the use of medication.
